This is a playlist I made in Spotify years ago.

This playlist starts out a bit "emo" with Sunny Day Real Estate.  I first heard Sunny Day Real Estate from a mixtape that Mike Rice made my brother.  I went on to buy 'Diary' on cassette.  I did get to see Sunndy Day Real Estate on their initial run in the Mainroom before they broke up the first time.  When they got back together in 1998 they put out a great record called 'How It Feels To Be Something On' I saw them around this time as well.

I am a huge Cap n' Jazz fan.  When Davey started The Promise Ring I had to check them out.  I loved their first 7"s and the first records.  I got to see them numerous times.  Including a show at The Bombshelter with Dillinger Four and Disembodied opening for them.  What a great lineup!

I first heard Everclear on a mixtape that had 2 songs from their first record on it 'World of Noise'.  I still think this is their best record.  It is not on Spotify but their are a couple tracks from it on a best of compilation that you can find.  "Heartspark Dollarsign" is a great song.

The next two Husker Du songs represent "Keep Hanging On" with Grant Hart singing and "These Important Years" with Bob Mould singing.  They are both great in their own ways.

They dont have the official Husker Du Store up right now but you can support Bob Mould Here

The Replacements record 'Tim' was the first album by them that I really latched onto.  Their other records are all great too but this is the one I probably listen to the most.

I used to listen to Ryan Adams a lot.  I liked his stuff with Whiskeytown and his solo stuff too.  I saw him live solo acoustic at the State Theater and it was great.  I also saw him with a full band at The Palace and I was really bummed out.  He jammed way too much.  Between that show and him being a dirtbag with the ladies I have stopped listening to him or buying his music.

I really did not like The Afghan Whigs when I first heard them in Jr. High.  I rediscovered them years later and completely fell in love with all Greg Dulli's projects including The Twilight Singers and The Gutter Twins with Mark Lanegan.  Greg always puts on the best shows go see him live.

Seaweed is such a great band.  I remember seeing the "Kid Candy" video on the big screen at First Ave a lot before shows.  'Four', 'Spanaway', and 'Actions and Indications' are my favorite records by them.

I got into Low from a mix that Dustin made me.  Then I bought 'The Shanti Project' Compilation with a bunch of other great bands.

I saw Disembodied and Harvest in so many basements it is impossible to count them.  Both of those bands are friends of mine I was even able to hit the road with them both over the years.  Disembodied always connected with me more than most other hardcore bands.  They are great friends too.

Bane is a great hardcore band that I became friends with over the years having met them through Harvest.  They crashed at my mom's place numerous times over the years while on tour.  They even dedicated the song "Calling Hours" to me on their last tour in Minneapolis.  R.I.P. Stu

Damnation A.D. was ahead of their time.  They were so heavy.  All their records are good and totally hold up to this day.

Judge was one of my favorite New York Hardcore bands.  Agnostic Front, Gorilla Biscuits, and Chain of Strength are all great too.  But Judge sticks with me more these days.

The dudes from Grade also stayed at my moms place a few times.  Great guys and a great band. 'Separate the Magnets' and 'Under the Radar' are my favorite records by Grade.

I first heard Torche while working at Extreme Noise.  I was instantly hooked and dug in deeper to find Floor as well.  I saw Torche every time I could in Minneapolis.  Bernie and I also traveled a couple times to see them in Milwaukee as well.

Weston was a super good and super fun band to see live.  'Got Beat Up' is by far my favorite Weston record but 'Matinee' is good too.

I first got into Leatherface when I picked up their record 'Cherry Knowle' at Extreme Noise.  I had heard that 'Mush' was their best record but it took me years to find it.  I do think that 'Mush' is their best record.  R.I.P. Dickie Hammond

'Dixie' and '4am Friday' are classic Avail records but I probably listen to 'Over the James' more these days.  Avail was a great band and worth going back to.

At first I had a hard time getting into Andrew WK.  It just seemed like it was too corny.  But this record is so catchy and so fun you have to love it.  He is also incredible live.

Turbonegro always seemed to have a following in Minneapolis.  It took me a while to get into them but 'Ass Cobra' and 'Apocalypse Dudes' are great records.

A dubbed cassette has been bouncing around my family for decades.  After listening to these dubbed and re-dubbed copies for years I finally bought the actual records.  They are a great listen if you are looking for a good raunchy laugh. R.I.P. Blair and Gary MacLean.
