This is a playlist I made in iTunes years ago.
This one clearly starts out in grunge years.
I liked Alice in Chains 'Dirt' when it came out. But I really loved the 'Jar of Flies' EP when it was released. I still have the CD with the fake flies in the spine.

I still really like Pearl Jam to this day. I always try to keep up with their new releases when they come out. But Pearl Jam 'Ten' was a really big deal for me. I loved that cassette and played it often. I saw them in 1992 and I have tried to see them a couple time since but I have never been able to get tickets.

I heard Screaming Trees for the first time on a BMX video. I didn't know who it was at first so I had to figure it out on my own. Mark Lanegan's voice is so great. I am glad that I got to see him live a couple of times before he passed. His book is a great read or listen too if you get the audiobook which he reads himself. R.I.P. Mark Lanegan

"Straight to You" is actually my wife's and mine song. It was on the first mixtape I ever made her. I got into Nick Cave through my friend Charlie. He told me to buy 'Henry's Dream'. To this day it is my favorite Nick Cave release. Its so dark. A perfect nighttime record.

I got into Elliott Smith from my friend Dustin. My favorite Elliott Smith records are 'Either/Or' and 'XO'. I got to see Elliott Smith live in the Mainroom once. It was incredible. Unfortunately Elliot passed away in 2003. R.I.P. Elliott

Chamberlain has been a favorite of mine since they were called Split Lip. I love the 'Fates Got A Driver' record. Its by far my favorite by them. 'The Moon My Saddle' is a close second and their last record 'Red Weather' is a great return to form as well in 2020.

My love of the Descendents runs deep and 'Liveage' is a perfect live record. "Get The Time" is such a classic.

I first heard this ALL song on a BMX video. I didn't even know that ALL was related to the Descendents when I heard this song.

Hot Water Music is such a great band. I particularly like all the records through 'No Division'. I have seen them live numerous times. They are always great live go see them.

Silent Majority is a hardcore band that I still listen to regularly. I really love Tommy's voice and lyrics. They are an absolute favorite for me. I only wish that they would have put out more records. Their last EP for Initial Records was so good I wanted more.
There is no Silent Majority store but you can see old pics of fliers and band related stuff on their Instagram
Lifetime is another band that I will always go back to. Their songs are timeless. 'Hello Bastards' and 'Jersey's Best Dancers' are both incredible.

This is the first Social Distortion song I ever heard. It was on the mix Rockin' at the Sands that my cousin Brian made me. Social Distortion was a band I would go on to see live numerous times and listen to frequently.

Embrace was Ian's band between Minor Threat and Fugazi. They only put our one record and it is great. It's more melodic than Minor Threat. A classic DC Hardcore record.

I got into Minutemen pretty early on in my journey into punk rock. Seriously great players and incredible lyrics. Unfortunately cut to short by D. Boone's death in a car accident December 22nd 1985. R.I.P. D. Boone. I am also a fan of Mike Watts band after Minutemen called fIREHOSE.

I remember seeing the music video for "Something Good" and really liking it. I bought the cassette soon after. Years later connecting the dots of the Kate Bush sample back to "Cloudbusting" So I had spent years listening to Kate and not even knowing it.

I remember first hearing Meat Beat Manifesto in a friends car in Jr. High. I really liked it but I had never heard music like it before. As usual I asked my mom to buy me the cassette 'Satyricon'. I listened to it over and over. Many years later while working at Down in the Valley we got a promo for Meat Beat Manifestos new record called 'At the Center'. I didn't even know they were still around. I took it home and listened to it and I was hooked all over again. Since Spotify I have dug even deeper into their catalog and even got to see him live in Denver. The Intro to Meat Beat Manifesto playlist on Spotify is a great way to dig deeper and its a favorite playlist of mine.

I got into Underworld when I was 15yrs old. A coworker of mine had found a big CD wallet full of CDs and asked me if I wanted to check any of them out. The Underworld CD caught my eye so I took it home. It turns out that the CD was the 'Second Toughest in the Infants' album. I have followed them since. I probably listen to the 'Barking' album the most these days. I hope to see them live someday.

I think that 'Moon Safari' is not only a perfect record but its also the warmest sounding record I have ever heard. My friend Dustin got me into this group and I love this record and their compilation 'Premiers Symptômes'.

I got into DJ Shadow from Dustin when he told me to buy DJ Shadow 'Entroducing.....' I love this record and it really changed the way I think about music. This record and the compilation 'Preemptive Strike' are must listens. Go see him live if you ever get the chance. I always listen to everything he releases to this day.

GWAR is so amazing. They dont pull any punches. Oddly enough I saw them on my 15th and 18th birthdays at First Avenue. I also took my mom to see them. I think I saw them 5 times over the years and still have the "blood" covered white t-shirts to prove it. R.I.P. Oderus Urungus

The video for "Mother" was pretty mind blowing when I first saw it. Danzig's voice is so great and the energy of that video hooked me instantly. I have been a Danzig fan since. It took me a few years to discover that he was also in the Misfits but then I went deep in on the Misfits as well. Oddly enough my mom is a big Danzig fan. His voice is great and he is quite a bit of a hunk.

Helmet was clearly some of the heaviest music I had ever heard when I heard it on a mixtape from Brian. Then 'Meantime' came out and started to get some regular play on MTV. I wouldn't consider Helmet a metal band. I have always said that they are just a different kind of "heavy".

I first heard Quicksand on A TAPE FULL OF BEAUTIFUL MUSIC from Brian. I really got into the album 'Slip' and 'Manic Compression' when it came out. I got to see them when they reunited for the Deftones tour years later. To be honest I have never listened to any of the albums released after they reunited or gone to see them. I just love the first 2 records so much I really dont need anymore Quicksand. My friend Bernie says the records are good though and I trust him completely.

Sick of it All 'Scratch the Surface' was one of the first hardcore records I ever bought and was one of the first CDs I ever bought as well. I have seen them numerous times and they never disappoint. They are always incredible. The first time I saw them was in the Mainroom and it was the now legendary show where they didn't have the security barrier up. It was stage dive after stage dive the whole show. I even stage dived that night.

I have been a fan of Hatebreed since their 'Under the Knife' 7" EP and their split with Neglect. I was them on one of their first tours with Disassociate at The Bomb Shelter in Minneapolis. It has been great to see them grow and grow over the years. I really think that they hit their stride with the 'Satisfaction Is The Death of Desire' and the next 'Perseverance' albums.

Madball is a all-time favorite for me. Freddy is one of my favorite singers to see live. The 'Demonstrating My Style' and 'Look My Way' albums are my favorites.

My mom bought me my first Iron Maiden cassette at Target. It was 'The Number of the Beast' I listened to it a lot then loaned it to my friend Joey and I never saw it again. It took me years to get back into them and get more Maiden in my collection. My next release back was the 'Live After Death' album which is basically a live greatest hits record of the early years. It is fantastic.

Other than the big Judas Priest hits that are on the radio all the time "The Sentinel" is really the first Judas Priest song that I latched onto. It is favorite Judas Priest song. I like Halford's solo years as well and he is truly THE METAL GOD.
